'RTM Cartier' sea trial gallery and video

The sea trial for our second ship, Hull PN66 to be named RTM Cartier, was far less problematic that the first born and (only) slipped by a day. The Philippines is getting a real hammering in this year's monsoon season, large parts of Manila and Luzon have been flooded and productivity in the Yard has been impacted by rain like the Antipodean Mariner hasn't seen for decades.

Picture yourself standing in a lukewarm shower wearing a hardhat and boilersuit...

Not too much to add to the standard procedure of the sea trial, to will let the photos and video do the talking.

Back to Subic tomorrow to write the cheque and pick up the keys...

  1. I have to second that. Nice video. The photos of the rain make me feel your pain though.

  4. As previous RTM ships were built in japan and the rtm zheng is being built in subic bay..Is there a huge difference in the quality of workmanship between the
ships? Or are there japanese workers assisting you in building the rtm zheng he?
if possible could you post the power of the main engine and generators of the zheng he?

  5. G'day, HHIC Philippines was selected on the basis of design, quality and price. Quality is better than China but what you is get is proportionate to how much you 'put in' in supervision cost and effort. Our Company has 16 people, a big site team. Workforce is Korean management, Korean and Romanian Foreman, Filipino workers. Main engine is 15,750 Kw at normal power, generators are 760Kw each.

    1. 'RTM Zheng He' will deliver in mid-November 2012. She hasn't yet had her DWT measured but is designed at 205,000 DWT. The rainy season is subsiding and we are back on track for two more deliveries this year. Sea trials for PN67/RTM Dampier are next week.

  8. I think sea trials will take place about 10th October for 'RTM Zheng He' but delivery of definitely in mid-November. 'RTM Dampier' departed Subic Bay this morning on her sea trials, delivery date 27th September. There will be a joint naming ceremony for Dampier and Zheng He.
